Return an empty dust jacket and request a receipt. Find the book's empty shelf location and place a bullet there. Reserve the book under the librarian’s name and wait for pickup. Call the number on the notice, even though it has too many digits.

2. Your car breaks down in a town that isn't on any map. What happens next? *

Trace the repeating symbols painted on the mailboxes until they form directions to a secret road. Pretend to be the government inspector the townspeople seem terrified was coming. Tune the dead radio until a voice gives me directions that only I can hear. Follow the sound of machinery to an abandoned garage and steal parts from an unknown spacecraft inside.

3. At 3:17 a.m., every radio in your house begins broadcasting a weather report for the inside of your home. What do you do? *

Open one window and leave a note inviting the storm to enter politely. Mark each temperature change on the floor plan to map an escape route. Ask whether the fog in the kitchen will lift before morning class. Close every door and hope I picked the right room.
